Island City Aero Club is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization established to stimulate and encourage interest in aviation, advance the knowledge of its members, promote general aviation, and support and enhance Cumberland Municipal Airport.
Fund raising is mainly achieved by sponsoring an annual fly-in breakfast the last weekend in August in coordination with Cumberland's annual Rutabaga Festival.
Since its inception, the ICAC has made improvements in navigation and communication systems at the airport. An example is the purchase and installation of VASI and REIL systems.
We fund a flight training scholarship program for future pilots and offer two scholarships each year to graduating seniors interested in aviation related careers from area high schools. Eligible applicants can apply from Hayward, Spooner, Shell Lake, Birchwood, Cumberland, Turtle Lake, Clayton, Rice Lake, Cameron, Barron, and Chetek High Schools. We also support the local Boys and Girls Club, the Girl Scouts, and Cumberland Boy Scout Troop 24.
For more information or to join please contact the Cumberland Airport Manager Richard Brekke, Cell: 715-205-4474. You may also contact one of the Island City
